Quick Answer

To search journals and academic databases, access the "Library Department" block within the AVA — through the Course Dashboard or the MUST Virtual block. There you'll find subscription databases, open-access databases, and support materials on APA formatting.

Before You Start

  • You must have active access to the MUST AVA/Moodle.

How It Works

The Library Department provides, within Moodle (AVA/LMS), a space with subscription (proprietary) databases, open-access databases, library services, and academic research support materials — available in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.

MUST also offers LIB101, a free, non-credit course supporting academic research skills, with no impact on your transcript or grades, offered monthly, one week before the start of each new term. It's an optional resource designed to strengthen your independence in academic research.

Step by Step

Access the Library Department

  1. Log in to the AVA/Moodle.
  2. Go to the Course Dashboard (landing page) — the recommended option — or the MUST Virtual block.
  3. Find and click the "Library Department" block.
  4. From there, you'll have access to the databases, policies, and other library services.

If a specific material link doesn't work

  1. Access the Library Department space.
  2. Identify the database the material belongs to (ask your instructor if you're not sure).
  3. Use the database's search box to find the title by name.
  4. Let the course instructor know about the broken link.

A public repository is currently being set up. In the meantime, high-scoring papers can be found in the MUST Reviews academic journal.

Can I use Google Scholar to find articles?

Yes — it's a valid alternative alongside the library's subscription databases, especially when a specific material isn't available in MUST's databases.

Where can I find guidance on formatting references in APA style?

The Library Department provides support materials on APA style within its AVA space. For a specific question, open a ticket with the library team.
